Sketch dump - Trolling

Trolls! Me loves them! Even if they are damn hard to draw. Especially those tusks. 'Forcing a square peg in a round hole' I believe another artist described her efforts at learning to draw troll faces, and I agree.

But they're still awesome.

Djembo is loosely based on my current hunter and Bengemoot (Lil' Ben, like I like calling him) on my first troll character, a shaman. Yeddica I just came up with, cause I wanted to practise female trolls. I'm not even sure what class she would be if she were a real game character.

Djembo and Ben are brothers, and Yeddica is their childhood friend. I don't know yet if her relationship with either of two males will develop into a more romantic direction, but anything's possible, I suppose.

Okay, with the introductions out of the way, on to the picture: First we have a basic set of headshots. Nothing fancy, just trying to get the feel of the characters.

Next, the young shaman seeking comfort from his brother's hunting pet. Djembo is very protective of his brother because they lost their parents at an early age, and often leaves his tiger, Bayou with him if they have to be apart for more than few moments. She's used to it, and obeys Ben without hesitation when her real master is out of sight.

And finally... Some brudda'-ta-brudda' bonding. Call me silly, but I think that gently tapping your tusks together would be a friendly gesture among trolls. Something equal to a noogie or a hearty slap on the shoulder. One of those things guys do when they haven't got the words to express the level of happiness and affection they're feeling, but hugs are still too mushy.

Very neat, and I was thinking I had the right troll with the tiger - glad I read the whole descrip before I asked to make sure. I'd say that's a pretty good sign of your talent level - you can take the new characters and make them look the same at different angles, so that viewers can go "oh, that's him".
