King Graven of the changelings had found his match in this mare, who called herself Thorny Trap. But though the two of them were bound together by shared goals and desires, and forces even stronger than they could understand, it didn't mean that they trusted one another.
Such was the true tragedy of it; the two who once had been the shining example of unconditional love and acceptance, were now held together by mutual lust, distrust, and greed for power.
A couple of days early, but the picture is done, so I might as well post it. Happy Halloween!
Nightmare Cotton Patch and Changeling King Greg. Cotton's sewing skill translates into her using magical strings to control things in this form, and Greg... Well, he's mostly just a lot bigger and meaner. Where changelings as a rule seem to be rather insect-like, I went more in the direction of deep-sea fish with his design.
I had the idea for this sometime last week, and honestly couldn't wait to get it down on paper. Then the theme 'Fear' popped up for the weekly Artist Training Grounds challenge on
which seemed just about perfect for this picture. I originally thought of making a Nightmare version of Greg, too, but somewhere along the way that idea got replaced with the Chageling King, which works just as well for me.
