MLP - Cotton and Greg in Equestria Girls by merrypaws MLP - Cotton and Greg in Equestria Girls by merrypaws
My, who could this strange couple be? They do look vaguely familiar...

Yes, it had to happen. Cotton Patch and Greg the changeling go to Canterlot High. It was one of those things I wanted to try, but couldn't really imagine until after I'd put it on paper. I briefly thought about making Greg a regular student, but then again, Greg's gimmick is that he's a monster that is living among ponies. Take away that, and he's pretty much only half the character he is. Therefore, he's still a changeling, albeit more human-shaped.

As for outfits, I knew I wanted to put Cotton into something soft and fluffy, like that turtleneck she's got. And a skirt with pockets. I can't emphasize that too much. Because you can be cute and ladylike while being practical.
For Greg, I had planned something more fantasy-medievalesque, but then that 80's goth-rock getup just HAPPENED, and I went: "Okay muse, you obviously know what you're doing. Carry on."

I like to think that if changelings were humanized, their holes would be either a genetic conditions or a lot of deep bruising.

I don't think of the holes as flaws or injuries or anything like that. They just, you know... ARE that way.

it's just a thought because being a reptilian dragon is what spike is and in equestrian girls and he was turned into a dog.

The species change is pretty much the whole idea of EG, but when it comes down to it, the character designs don't change much. Like the mane 6 keeping their very non-human skin colors. So in my mind, there is no need to change all these strange details about the changelings. Obviously the EG universe isn't supposed to be any more realistic than the 'normal' ponyverse, even if the characters are humans.

Puts me in mind of a set of characters from a graphic novel series called Nightschool (Weiryn chronicles). The school setting is particularly link-worthy - the GN universe is set such that the magic side of things are educated at highschools that act as dimensional portals once the sun sets; thus 'nightschool'.

Students encompass all the major and minor supernatural breeds to greater or lesser degree. And there's also a "slayer"-type subclass of human also known as hunters.

But I will say this, the holds look a lot weirder on a humanoid than on an equine.

I can't help but feel that the story behind this pair would be different in the EQG world than the regular Equestria world.

I can't help but feel that you are right. Though this way the comparisons with Twilight are suddenly much more poignant.

I wish these two had a wildly successful ask-blog with an ongoing silly plot and occasional animated interludes.

These two are adorable, and this is a perfect "human form" for them! I love your characters!

This is awesome! I never quite realized how creepy the holes in the limbs were until now. o0

Yeah, I noticed that too while drawing.
When you're dealing with little ponies, everything sorta comes with a degree of suspension of disbelief built in, doesn't it? But when you put the same thing into a relatively human like form, it suddenly hits far closer to home.

I love Cotton and Greg.  To see them in anthro form in any way is awesome.
And this is probably one of the best anthro changelings I've seen. Fantastic job!
